In Odessa, they said goodbye to the officers who died from a missile attack on July 23, as well as the commander of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign. Several hundred people came to the place of farewell on July 26 with armfuls of red roses, bouquets of carnations and blue-yellow asters.

Most of those present are military personnel. Many politicians were also seen at the ceremony.

- lieutenant colonels Alexander Dainek, Valentin Sergienko and Vitaly Bondarev ,
- as well as the commander of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign Vitaly Gulyaev.
After the performances and the funeral, they announced a farewell. People carried flowers to the coffin. Women in black headscarves leaned over the rose-covered bodies of the defenders.
The military band played a farewell tune. Those who gathered left bouquets of flowers at the coffins and expressed their support to the relatives of the victims. Neither men nor women held back their tears. Under the anthem of Ukraine, the coffin with the defenders was wrapped with national flags.

The dead defended us in fierce battles
The head of the Odessa OVA, Maxim Marchenko, in his video message emphasized that it was thanks to the commander and officers that the enemy could not reach the Odessa region, was stopped and defeated in the Kherson direction.
5 months they defended us in fierce battles and mercilessly killed infidels. I express my condolences to the families and friends of the victims,” Marchenko stressed.

- Vitaly Gulyaev was born in the town of Shostka, Sumy region.
