Today, May 17, the Russian army attacked an important enterprise for the Donetsk region – Knauf Ukraine.
As a result of shelling, the premises of the enterprise were damaged. The fire caught fire and while the rescuers of the State Emergency Service are still trying to curb it.
The head of the Donetsk OVA said that, fortunately, there were no casualties.
Once again, the Russians are attacking an exclusively civilian object. They deliberately destroy the industry of Donbass, trying to destroy what has been rebuilt for years and decades. But they did not take into account how ardent Ukrainians are. Let's stand. Choice. We will rebuild it,” Pavel Kirilenko wrote.
On the same day, the invaders fired on Bakhmut.
On May 17, Russian invaders fired rockets at civilian infrastructure in Bakhmut. A fire caught fire in a high-rise building – it has already been pacified, but rescuers continue to sort out the rubble.
Now one dead person and a seriously injured 9-year-old child have been pulled out from under the rubble. How many more people are under the rubble is still unknown.
A day earlier, Russian troops fired on the Donetsk region with aerial bombs, Hurricanes and Iskanders. During the day the Russians shelled 19 settlements. As a result of these strikes, 48 civilian objects in the Donetsk region were destroyed. Residential buildings, schools, institutes, factories, and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded civilians.
The situation in the East of Ukraine:
- Over the past day, on May 16, the Russians shelled 48 cities and villages in the East. In this way, Russia killed another 22 civilians. At least 11 people were also reported injured.
- At the same time, the invaders damaged and destroyed 65 residential buildings, both private and multi-apartment.
- In total, 78 civilian objects were damaged that day, including including a school, factories and shops.
- According to the General Staff, the Russians are trying to advance along the entire line of confrontation in the Donbass, including in the Donetsk direction. Although they destroy all the cities that they can reach, the enemies are not successful in offensive operations – the Armed Forces of Ukraine repel the attacks of the invaders. Therefore, the Russians are constantly conducting aerial reconnaissance to find the most vulnerable places.
