In Kharkov, the SBU exposed and neutralized a group of Russian intelligence agents (GRU), who were engaged in terrorist attacks and espionage against the Ukrainian military.
A group of saboteurs was detained in Kharkov
The group of saboteurs consisted of four residents Kharkiv region:
- software engineer;
- former military man;
- two unemployed.
They were recruited by Russian special services. The criminals' actions were coordinated by a militant of the so-called “DPR”, who is located in the east of Ukraine and cooperates with Russian intelligence. Their curator gave instructions via messenger.

The defendants were looking for the locations of the Defense Forces in Kharkov and the region. They transmitted this information to the enemy in the form of map images with appropriate marks.
In June 2024, members of this criminal group blew up the car of a Ukrainian serviceman. As a result of the explosion, the fighter was seriously injured.
To carry out the explosion, the perpetrators watched the parking lot of a car in Kharkov and planted an explosive device under it.
After that, they planned new attacks. One of their tasks was to blow up a train that was transporting Ukrainian military equipment to the front lines.
At the same time, one of the group members made another explosive device and hid it in a hiding place. After that, law enforcement officers detained him.
Other members of the sabotage group were detained at their residential addresses. During searches, the following were seized from the perpetrators:
- explosives;
- mobile phones;
- computers with evidence of criminal activity.
The detainees were informed of suspicion of treason and illegal handling of explosives. They are currently remanded in custody without bail.
They may also be charged under articles on sabotage and terrorist acts.
The perpetrators face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
