A new package of military aid to Ukraine has been announced in Sweden. What will our military get – read on.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson confirmed on February 24 that his country would send Ukraine Leopard 2 tanks and two different air defense systems. He wrote about this on his Twitter.
Military aid from Sweden
Sweden joins the so-called ” leopard family” in support of Ukraine through the transfer of Swedish Leopard 2 tanks. Today's military package also includes additional air defense components. We will continue to help Ukraine win the war,” wrote the Prime Minister of Sweden.
According to Reuters, we are talking about the supply of about 10 tanks. It is known that Sweden will supply Ukraine with Hawk and IRIS-T air defense systems.
It should be noted that Sweden has provided several packages of military and civilian assistance to Ukraine since the start of a full-scale invasion Russia a year ago. The final piece of assistance includes armored infantry fighting vehicles and advanced Archer artillery systems.
Tank coalition highlights
- Ukraine's partners continue to provide our state with large-scale support. In particular, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands plan to provide us with about 100 Leopard tanks.
- Poland has already sent the first Leopard tanks to Ukraine. As of February 24, they have already arrived at the scene. This was stated by Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki during a joint press conference with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
- Soon Warsaw will again transfer tanks to Ukraine. We are talking about 60 modernized PT-91 tanks.
