Kamala Harris, after Joseph Biden’s refusal to run for US President from the Democratic Party, is ready to enter the election fight with Donald Trump instead. So far, the vice president has not yet announced who will make up her team.

Valeriy Chaly, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States in 2015-2019, told 24 Channel that if Kamala Harris wins, she will likely form a team, in particular, from people who worked with Barack Obama during his presidency. She hasn't even decided on a candidate for vice president yet.

An astronaut could become vice president

If Harris takes the presidency, Jake Sullivan, who currently serves as Biden's national security adviser, will remain in the White House.

He will stay because he is close to Hillary Clinton. When she was Secretary of State, Sullivan accompanied her on international visits, Chaly explained.

Also joining Harris's team could be Mike Carpenter, who is currently working with Biden. He just returned from Vienna, where he was the US ambassador to the OSCE, and now holds the position of senior adviser for the region.

Kamala Harris's team included people who had previously worked with Barack Obama, in particular, Susan Rice, who was his national security adviser during his presidency. But at the end of 2023, she left her post.

Philip Gordon, who assists the vice president on national security issues and is also an adviser to President Biden, can already be recruiting Harris's team.

An interesting point is that Harris does not yet have a formed team, because out of the 47 people she recruited for her vice presidential office, four remain. So today she can recruit those who believe that she has a chance to become president. There will be many candidates, he is sure.

At the same time, Kamala Harris has not yet announced who will be her vice presidential candidate on her team.

If Donald Trump chose J. D. Vance as his vice president, who fully shares his views, then Harris will look for a candidate in the so-called nine states, where usually neither Democrats nor Republicans have unconditional support from voters. However, it is the voting in these states that determines the election results.

“There are currently several candidates for vice presidency. In particular, astronaut, current pilot, Senator from Arizona Mark Edward Kelly,” Valery Chaly noted.
