The Russian military is allegedly preparing to blow up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region. Such actions by the occupiers can lead to catastrophic consequences.
About this Channel 24said military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and pilot-instructor Roman Svitan. He believes that the enemy troops are preparing to carry out such actions if everything does not go according to their plan.
Can the invaders blow up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station
Svitan noted that the Russian occupiers. Indeed, they can blow up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant, since it is not difficult to do this.
But blowing up the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir is not so easy. An external explosion will practically not damage it. It was built back in the days of the Soviet Union and can withstand both atomic and nuclear explosions, the military expert said.
According to him, in order for the dam to completely collapse, certain preparatory work must be done. It will be necessary to drive at least a couple of KamAZ explosives into the body of the dam, and then blow it up. Such a movement by the Russians has not yet been committed. If the occupiers start doing this, then our high-precision weapons will do their job.
For what purpose can they do this
Rassvet noted that the enemy troops are preparing to carry out such actions if everything does not go according to their plan, and will retreat from the right bank to the left in the Kherson region.
Therefore, they can really in order to cut off the Ukrainian troops, to blow up the dam. And then the water level will not allow Ukrainian troops to cross the Dnieper in the direction of Crimea in the Kherson region, – said the colonel of the reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He noted that if the Kakhovka Reservoir is emptied, then water will leave the external cooling circuit of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. This will already be a problem.
The fact is that in this case there are many problems that cannot actually be solved without the water of the Kakhovka reservoir. And then the nuclear power plant can be such a “dirty” bomb, – Svitan explained.
That is, according to him, if it is operated incorrectly, a pure thermal explosion can occur. Nevertheless, it will already be a “dirty” bomb and, accordingly, a big problem.

Where the invaders build their line of defense
Svitan explained that if the Russian military blow up the station, then the right bank will not be flooded, because it is higher than the left. That is, it will be the flooding of the left bank.
So the Russians are leaving. Even now we see that they are starting to prepare a line of defense not nearby, say, on the left bank in the Kherson region, but not far from Chaplinka. This is about 70 – 80 kilometers from Kherson, – the military expert noted.
That is, he summarized, the invaders are building a defense line deep from the probable flood line. Therefore, it is quite possible that the Russians can blow up the dam. At the same time, they retreat towards the Crimea and try to close the entrance to the peninsula. This is from Melitopol towards Chongar and Perekop.
The threat of undermining the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station: what is known
