The People's Republic of China has usually declared neutrality towards Russia's war against Ukraine. However, the situation has changed in an amazing way.
About thisChannel 24told the political strategist Boris Tizenhausen. He recalled that Beijing usually used distant language when talking about Russia's war against Ukraine.
They say that China does not take sides, but stands for world peace. However, all of a sudden, Chinese diplomats announced that Xi Jinping would deliver a peacekeeping speech on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, that is, on February 24.
China's policy statement
Tizenhausen noted that the announcement of the Chinese leader's speech says that his speech will be aimed at “observing the sovereignty of both sides.” Although, according to the political strategist, it is quite clear whose sovereignty is now violated.
Beijing suddenly decided to make a policy statement about the war in Ukraine. I think that this will be a direct instruction specifically to Vladimir Putin that he end the war according to the parameters that will be outlined in Xi Jinping's speech,” Tizengauzen said.
The political consultant emphasized that no one in China considers Russia as a partner.

Lethal weapon for Russia is China's diplomatic game
The Chinese leadership only uses the aggressor country as a tool to achieve its goals.
“China to solve its of the extremely important issue with Taiwan, now we need to accumulate tools in order to trade them,” Tizenhausen said.
He recalled the statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that China is considering the possibility of providing Russia with lethal weapons. The political strategist believes that this is nothing more than a diplomatic game.

The political strategist
This is classic diplomacy. There is a leak of information that China allegedly can provide lethal weapons to Russia. Blinken warns against doing this. And China can say to this: “Okay, we will not supply Russia with anything, but let's decide something with Taiwan.”
Thus, doing nothing special, but only leaking certain information, China is building up its tools for bargaining with the West.
Beijing made Putin look inadequate
Tiesenhausen recalled another case of China's diplomatic game. In January, foreign media reported that Moscow had not informed Beijing of its intention to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. At that time, China even fired one of the Foreign Ministry officials, allegedly because he could not predict the attack.
China made Putin look inadequate. Although it is quite clear that such statements by China are lies. Everyone there knew (about Putin's plans – Channel 24). That plan of attack on Ukraine, which was on Putin's desk, most likely, thanks to intelligence, was also on the desk of the Chinese leader, the political consultant noted.
He stressed that China achieves what it needs with smart tools.
“Although it is possible thatBeijing may deliberately escalate the situation at the last moment,” Tizenhausen said.

China is interested in Western markets
According to the political strategist, the Russian market will not go away from Beijing. Russia will still be forced to sell its raw materials and goods to China and India.
“But the European and American markets are much more interesting for China. It does not want to lose these markets due to potential sanctions (for supporting Russia – Channel 24),” Tizenhausen said.
He added that this is why Beijing is trying to balance between the West and Moscow.
China's position on the war in Ukraine: in short
- The United States said that Beijing could provide Russia with lethal weapons. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that China will maintain a pragmatic attitude, otherwise we risk ending up on the verge of World War III.
- Russian opposition politician Gennady Gudkov noted that Xi Jinping had already sent a signal to Putin at the Munich Conference through his representative so that he does not even think about nuclear weapons. According to Gudkov, China is not happy with Russia's nuclear rhetoric.
- Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine wants China to play its part in containing Russia. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed that no compromises regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine or any other country in the world are possible.
