Glorious Mariupol today is under temporary occupation. Since February 21, 14 explosions have been reported around the captured city.
Explosions were heard at the airport's ammunition depots, two fuel depots and a steel plant that Russia uses as a military base. This was reported by British intelligence.
Why explosions in Mariupol disturb the invaders
Mariupol is located at least 80 kilometers from the front line.
Russia is likely to be concerned that strange explosions are taking place in a zone that it previously assessed as beyond the normal Ukrainian strike capabilities, the intelligence noted.
The British Ministry of Defense stressed that although Mariupol was significantly destroyed at the beginning of the war, it is important for Russia, since it is the largest city that the invaders captured in 2022. At present, the invaders still control it.
In addition, Mariupol is located on a key logistical route.
