There was a mini-breakthrough near Ocheretino: what Ukraine needs at the front to go from defense to offense

The German publication Der Spiegel reports that Poland and the Baltic countries envisage sending their troops into Ukraine if the Russian army is able to break through the front. Emmanuel Macron also made similar statements at one time. However, this Western strategy raises many questions.

Israeli military observer David Sharp told Channel 24, that the approach itself is understandable, because Emmanuel Macron, and after him representatives of smaller states, decided to switch to a strategy of ambiguity, so that Russia would feel that the West can and is capable of taking further steps to strengthen support for Ukraine, including sending its armed forces – although not to fight , but help in other ways. But it is not clear what Western countries wanted to say when they said “if Russia breaks through the front,” because here they mean the defeat of Ukraine to one degree or another.

To make Russia nervous

David Sharp believes that there is a certain contradiction here, because it is not clear why the West should introduce its troops and send aid when Ukraine may actually be defeated. And in general, the question is what kind of troops these will be, because until now no one has talked about the possible introduction of combat troops into Ukraine.

That is, the approach itself, if Ukraine is defeated and they send in troops, is a little wrong, because how will these troops help? But this is part of the new strategy that Macron activated – to make Russia nervous first vocal level,” emphasized a military observer from Israel.

Russia is now transferring additional brigades from other directions to Kharkov, and David Sharp believes that Russia continues offensive actions depending on how much reserves they have.

When it comes to breaking through the front, you need to understand what we are talking about. There was a local breakthrough near Ocheretino, when the Russian army advanced to a significant depth. But this is not a breakthrough that has reached the operational level in terms of its weight,” noted David Sharp.

Therefore, when Western countries talk about breaking through the front and then introducing troops, such an approach raises questions.

Ukraine has the capabilities for effective defense

Regarding the stability of the front, Ukraine, having received and is now receiving significant assistance from the United States and European countries after the American aid package was approved, has the capabilities for effective defense.

This does not mean that the enemy cannot advance somewhere, because this has already happened and, apparently, will happen, but for effective defense and preventing serious breakthroughs, a lot depends on Ukraine.

< p class="bloquote cke-markup" dir="ltr">The level of success depends on the formation of the Armed Forces, replenishment of forces, combat training, planning and so on, but in general the conditions for successfully defending themselves, Ukraine “now it has,” the military observer summed up.

The West is talking about sending its troops into Ukraine

  • French President Emanuel Macron said at the end of February 2024 that the option of sending NATO troops to Ukraine is possible, but has not yet been agreed upon. In his opinion, for Ukraine to win, it is necessary to reconsider all options for support.
  • Subsequently, Macron noted that it was France that did not exclude the possibility of sending ground troops to Ukraine. He noted that his strategic goal is to ensure that Russia can never win in Ukraine, since a Russian victory in this conflict threatens the security of all of Europe.
  • House Democratic Leader US Representatives Hakim Jeffries allowed US troops to enter Ukraine, saying that “we cannot allow Ukraine to fall, because if that happens, then there is a significant likelihood that America will have to get involved in a conflict – not just with our money, but with our military personnel.”
