Vigirinsky suggested that one scheme should be strengthened – before allowing Russia and Belarus to participate in the Olympics – to check each “neutral” athlete with a question whose Crimea :
- those who say that Crimea is Ukrainian will not return to Russia, but will stay in France and will perform under the flag of this country,
- and those who say that Crimea is Russian will not take part in the Olympics, because they have not passed the “test” publicly.
“But these are our desires, the Europeans this will not work, and Ukraine should not aggravate relations with other countries because of this,” he believes. . After all, every person is a citizen of a certain country, and if he participates in the Olympics even under a “neutral” flag, he will remain a representative of this country.
Ukraine demands to ban participation of Russia and Belarus
According to him, Ukraine is trying to achieve this and incline partners to its side.
Our allies react differently to this… There should be a real boycott from those countries that support Ukraine and our position on the impossibility of participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in competitions,” Vigirinsky said.

He stressed that Ukraine's demand is not to allow Russians and Belarusians to compete.
Once there was a similar case, then there was a boycott, but this did not change situations. So, now it looks like we are demanding something that in the end will not lead to an adequate result, says Vigirinsky.
The political scientist assured that if one of the Ramstein countries does not want to boycott the participation of Russia and Belarus, we will not be able to stop accepting weapons from them.
“Yes, we need to raise a decision on the non-admission of Russian athletes, but the decision has already been made,” he added.
