There is no other way to stop the war, - Musienko on the position of the West on weapons for Ukraine

Currently, there is a consolidated position of most Western countries on military support for Ukraine. We need help to implement the Ukrainian counter-offensive in order to prevent Russia from attacking and defeating it.

This was announced on Channel 24 by the head of the Center for Military Legal Research Alexander Musienko. In his opinion, Western countries see no other way to convince Vladimir Putin to stop the war, other than to defeat the Russians and de-occupy the South of the country.

Everyone's watching the US

According to the head of the Center, the United States plays a leading role in the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Many European countries observe the decisions of the States, and then additionally make their own.

As it turned out, after the US decided to provide Ukraine with a Patriot, Germany did not need the decision of all NATO allies to provide an SAM battery. Although we have previously talked about the uselessness of such a decision, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed this,” Musienko recalled.

France in the lead

According to the expert, a consensus has emerged among European countries on the issue of providing weapons to Ukraine. France was the first country to publicly announce this, ahead of Germany in terms of competition for European leadership.

The decision to transfer French light tanks is a breakthrough. Because we later heard about the M2 Bradley and other armored vehicles,” says the head of the Center for Military Legal Research.

Rammstein will provide even more weapons

Musienko suggested that in the future, Ramstein will make even more decisions regarding the provision of armored vehicles to Ukraine. For example, Italy did not say its word, from which Ukraine also expects help.

We can talk not only about armored vehicles, but also air defense systems. In Italy, they actively forced the issue so that the parliament would finance weapons for Ukraine in 2023. There was a discussion, but they supported it,” the expert said.

According to Oleksandr Musiyenko, work is underway in Europe to consolidate support for Ukraine and meet the needs necessary for counter-offensive operations.

“I think there will still be decisions that will consist in the fact that artillery, armored vehicles, air defense systems will arrive, and the next stage, I want to believe, will be tanks,” summed up the head of the Center for Military Legal Research.

Western weapons for Ukraine: important news

  • The director of practical policy programs at the Institute of Political Education Oleksandr Solontai believes that the shift to provide Ukraine with serious weapons will occur after the first successful liberation of the territory in 2023.
  • Ukraine's partner countries in the Rammstein format are massively deploying their military-industrial complexes. A significant part of the produced weapons goes to the needs of Ukraine in protecting its borders.
  • The new 18 HIMARS to be supplied by the US will be integrated with the IFADTS system. The technology should improve communication between reconnaissance drones and HIMARS installations.
