There is no betrayal: the Ministry of Defense explained the situation with the payment of 15 million hryvnias to the families of fallen heroes

A fake is spreading on the net about the cancellation of payments to the families of murdered heroes. However, the decision remains in force.

Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar wrote about this on August 25. According to her, no one canceled the one-time payment of UAH 15 million.

“The media spread information about the adoption of a law allegedly removing such payments. This is not true. On February 28, the government approved the decision that the payment to the families of the dead defenders of Ukraine is 15 million hryvnias. Nobody cancels this decision and does not plan to,” Malyar assured.< /p>

Changes to the law on payments

Maliar assured that all the families of the dead soldiers will receive payments. Some of the people who submitted the necessary documents have already received the money.

The Deputy Minister noted that on August 25, 2022, amendments to the law “On the social and legal protection of military personnel and members of their families” came into force. We are talking about the following innovations:

  • have clearly defined the persons who can receive one-time monetary assistance in the event of the death of a serviceman. These are the parents, the only or one of the spouses, minor children, dependents of the deceased;
  • streamlined the additional payment of a one-time allowance in the event of a change in disability group. Consequently, the disability percentage will be paid regardless of the period that has elapsed since the initial determination of disability or partial disability. Previously, this was limited to a two-year period;
  • the issues of paying a one-time allowance in the event of the death of a military man during martial law were normalized.

Thus, the payment of benefits in the event of the death of a serviceman during the period of martial law in the amount of 15 million hryvnias has not been canceled, but, on the contrary, has been regulated by law,” Malyar emphasized.

How much did Ukraine spend on defense against infidels

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal noted that 420 billion hryvnias were spent from the defense budget in a full-scale war. He announced this on August 23. In total, all expenses since February 24 amount to 1 trillion hryvnia.
