The Turkish side is trying to become a grain hub/Channel 24
Turkey is ready to become an arbiter in the organization of grain exports from Ukrainian ports blocked by Russia, but at the same time it will receive a 25% discount on the purchase of agricultural products. In such a development of events, one should not look for treason.
This was told to Channel 24 by investment banker Sergey Fursa. Now the Turkish side is trying to become a grain hub and earn money.
As Fursa said, the scheme promoted by the Turks will provide that they will buy grain in Ukrainian ports and export it.

Within such a scheme, even a discount of 25 %, all things considered, may seem quite realistic and normal. Especially considering that over the past year prices have risen significantly. Therefore, this discount of 25% does not have much betrayal if other important factors are kept.
According to Fursa, we are talking about security. In Ukraine, they understand that under the cover of these ships and after clearing the ports, it is quite possible that Russia will attack. This is the biggest risk.
“Without guarantees that this will not happen, we cannot afford to go for this agreement,” the investment banker said.
Why export grain
Fursa noted that for many years Ukraine has been a major exporter of agricultural products. For the domestic market, Ukrainian farmers grew only approximately 7% of the crop, and exported the rest.
If farmers cannot do this, they will not receive money. The elevators will be full. The grain that will lie there will be of no use to anyone. The new crop will have nowhere to go, and the farmers will be without money, – said the investment banker.
Nobody wants this turn of events. Fursa also noted that very often Russian propagandists claim that the West allegedly wants to take grain from Ukraine, and the state itself is “threatened by hunger.”
“Such narratives are Russian propaganda that “the West is bad” . Ukraine needs to export grain. This is our income,” the investment banker added.
Unblocking Ukrainian ports: what is known
- Russian ships continue to block Ukrainian ports, so Ukraine cannot export grain. At the same time, Russia cynically steals it from the temporarily occupied territories and tries to sell it to other countries.
- According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine is negotiating its unhindered export from a number of countries and the UN. However, the main guarantor remains the weapons received by the country from Western partners.
- Turkey intends to buy Ukrainian grain, which is currently blocked in ports due to Russian aggression, at a 25% discount.
