It is becoming more or less clear who and how in the future will work on the restoration of the Gaza Strip and its administration, but the same cannot be said about the military contingent. It is still unknown which forces will be responsible for security in the region after the war.

Arab countries themselves do not want to send their military contingent to Gaza. The editor-in-chief of the Israeli portal “Details” Emil Shleimovich told Channel 24 about this, adding that no such proposal had been received from the United States either.

Who will be responsible for security in the Gaza Strip?

It can be assumed that UN forces will enter the region, but this requires a resolution that will give them the appropriate powers. For example, permission to use military force is issued by a special commission created at the UN. It includes the chiefs of staff of all member countries represented in the Security Council.

“Imagine that the Russians will also be given the authority to use force against terrorists. Therefore, Israel is not considering the UN,” noted Emil Shleimovich.

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu constantly says that Israel will maintain its security presence in the area, but because there is no other alternative yet,” Shleimovich emphasized.

If forces appear that will create a bloc and be present in the region, this option is possible, there is a need for it. After all, when the war ends and Hamas is destroyed, this does not mean that all weapons, of which there are a lot there, will disappear in the Gaza Strip.

Also, this does not mean that the locals will no longer have the desire to attack or wage a guerrilla war – all this will last for a long time, so someone needs to resolve these issues, Shleimovich added.

In his opinion, the ideal option would be a Palestinian Authority led by a moderate leader. He will be able to ensure that Hamas or Jihad do not reveal themselves as terrorists. Military forces in the region should be centralized and belong to the state. This will make it possible to deal with terrorist groups, and resolve any dialogue or contradictions in a civilized way.
