Heroic Mariupol defenders continue to fight Russian invaders at the Azovstal plant. Invaders break into some areas of the enterprise, but so far their presence is not significant.
The commander of the 12th operational brigade of the National Guard Denis Shlega spoke about this on the air of the national telethon. He is now at Azovstal.
The invaders are still trying to break through to Azovstal
Schlega said that the defenders of Azovstal hold on and give a worthy rebuff to the enemy. However, the infidels use thermal bombs against them. In addition to prohibited ammunition, enemy aircraft are working on Azovstal, and our military has nothing to fight it with.
“Without the support of aviation and artillery, they can’t do anything about any assaults. The guys give a worthy answer,” the defender noted.
Schlega added that in the morning the invaders work with artillery, tanks and aircraft, and only then trying to enter.
Sometimes they enter, fixing themselves in some buildings. But our defenders then knock them out of there or do not let them in at all. This situation is emerging. Yes, there is an enemy in some parts of the plant, but this is still insignificant and we are holding on,” the National Guardsman noted.
The defender summed up that, despite the fact that the Ukrainian soldiers are fighting back the enemy, they are doing it with all their might.
Briefly about the situation at Azovstal
- Relatives of the defenders Mariupol was told that the only thing that can now save the fighters from Azovstal is the extraction procedure. They stressed that so far there are no other options.
- In addition, relatives of the military reported that there was not a single healthy soldier at the plant. All the defenders have wounds of varying severity, but they continue to fight the invaders.
- Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk assessed the chances of taking the seriously wounded out of Azovstal. According to her, the Ukrainian authorities are doing everything possible to implement this.
- At the same time, the deputies of the Mariupol City Council appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They ask us to do everything to save our heroes from Azovstal.
- In particular, they noted in the request that there is no official information about the possibility of evacuating the defenders yet.
