Ukrainians continue to fear that Russia will open another front – from the unrecognized Transnistria. However, representatives of the authorities reassure that such a scenario is unlikely.

As Sergei Bratchuk, a representative of the Odessa military administration, noted in his morning address, there will be no second front. In addition, according to him, in the event of any provocations, the Ukrainian Defense Forces will give a fitting rebuff to the invaders.

There will be no second front

Bratchuk noted that that the issue of Transnistria continues to be raised in society. Like, Russia is preparing a second front, which will soon become more active in the south. In fact, there is no threat.

As for the issue of Transnistria, which for some reason is being raised again, there will be no second front. Our Defense Forces are ready to respond to the enemy if he only moves here,” a representative of the Odessa military administration said in a morning address.

He added that there is indeed some activity in the mentioned direction, but it is indicative and there are no real provocations observed.

Threat from Transnistria

The topic of a possible attack by Russian troops from the territory of Transnistria on Ukraine or possible provocations in Moldova has been discussed in the media since the beginning of the escalation of the conflict in winter. After the full-scale invasion of Russia, forecasts for the opening of a second front were raised several times, including during the terrorist attacks that occurred on the territory of the pseudo-republic at the end of April.

So, on April 25 and 26, several explosions occurred on the territory of the unrecognized Transnistria . the Russian side immediately began to look for evidence of the “Ukrainian trace”. Then explosions were heard near the “Ministry of State Security” of the pseudo-republic, as a result of the following, the radio tower broadcasting Russian frequencies was destroyed.

After a series of incidents, Moldovan President Maia Sandu convened the Security Council of the country. After the meeting, the Moldovan leader said that the authorities would work exclusively through diplomacy on the return of Pridnestrovie to Moldova.

Sandu received a letter from the local “Ministry of State Security”. It says that Russian intelligence has launched active activities on the territory and is trying to drag Transnistria into the war. Due to provocation, the majority of the population of the quasi-republic leaves the territory, fleeing a possible war.
