Ukraine has been demanding missiles from its Western partners for a long time that can hit targets at a distance of 300 kilometers. And now there is a serious basis to fulfill this requirement.

Former US Ambassador to NATO and former US Representative to Ukraine Kurt Volker stated this on the air of a nationwide information marathon.

He stated that even if one accepts the idea that Ukraine should not shoot at Russian territory, long-range missiles are still needed to hit targets on Ukrainian territory. In this context, Volker recalled the temporarily occupied Crimea.

However, I have not heard that Washington is considering changes in its policy. The Ukrainians are asking for this, but so far the States have not changed their position,” Volker stated.

At the same time, Kurt Walker recalled that the United States had previously said that they would not transfer the Stinger to Ukraine, but the opposite happened. The situation is the same with heavy weapons.

“There were no howitzers – now they are, there were no HIMARS – now they are. I think we need to keep pushing to get long-range artillery systems,” added the former US representative in Ukraine.

How missiles with a range of 300 km will affect the course of the war

Military observer Denis Popovich stressed that if the battles take place in the Donetsk region, then missiles at 300 km will make it possible to fire at the positions of the Russian army from the Dnepropetrovsk or Poltava regions.

According to him, these weapons will be beyond the influence of the infidels' artillery. That is, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to shoot at the positions of the Russians from a safe distance.

This is such a “long arm” of the Ukrainian army, which we did not have before. So far, the only means of such influence is Tochka-U 120-130 kilometers, but this is an outdated Soviet complex,” Popovich said.

He added that now there are more advanced systems, to which can also include missiles that will be delivered to HIMARS.
