Political scientist Taras Semenyuk told 24 Channel that Vladimir Putin’s conditions for ending the war, in particular the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, are unacceptable to everyone. It is important that this proposal is not compatible with what China is offering.

“Western and Ukrainian diplomacy has a chance to win China's support,” he said.

China offers peace in Ukraine

Taras Semenyuk noted that China stands for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

China strives for dialogue and peaceful negotiations. And Putin’s proposals indicate that he does not want this, the political scientist emphasized.

Before the Peace Summit in Switzerland, a BRICS summit was held in Kazan. According to Semenyuk, this is preparation for the main event for the peaceful settlement of events in Ukraine, which should take place in the fall of 2024. There they discussed an alternative Chinese-Brazilian peace formula.

Contradictions between Russia and China

Putin’s statements do not correspond to Chinese ideas about peace in Ukraine. Obviously, it will be difficult to get Moscow to change its position.

“The West can show Beijing the true face of Moscow, that it does not want peace negotiations and does not want to build a future security model. This is a characteristic feature of dictators,” the political scientist added.
