There have already been three turning points in this war, – Ambassador-at-Large of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry

Lately Ukraine's partners and allies have been talking about the decisive months and weeks in the war. However, there have already been at least 3 such decisive moments.

This was stated by the Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Austria (2016-2021) Oleksandr Shcherba in an interview with Channel 24.

He noted that there were already at least 3 turning points in the war, in particular:

  • When Ukraine showed that it could not be broken. That is, Russia will not win this war. This was when the Russians were pushed back from the Kyiv region and Northern and Central Ukraine.
  • When Ukraine showed that it is capable of winning. It was August-September last year, when the Ukrainian offensive was announced and implemented.

But not in the place where everyone was waiting, but in the end in the Kharkov region. It was an amazing operation and our partners (and we ourselves!) saw that the Ukrainian army is able to drive this rubbish from our land, to be truly victorious,โ€ he stressed.

  • When we have to show that we can not just win, but win.

The last point, according to Alexander Shcherba, is the most important.

“We have already announced that there will be a Russian offensive, we will repel it, and then there will be a large Ukrainian counter-offensive. From its success, from how convincing our victory in it will be, it depends whether we can, in principle, finally blow up the spirit in the ranks of the Russian occupiers” , he added.

Note that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready for a counteroffensive. This could happen in the spring of 2023. This was stated at the Institute for the Study of War. According to analysts, our military assumes that Ukrainian forces are preparing for a spring counteroffensive in the South.
