During Russian attacks on the Odessa region, drones also fly into the territory of Romania. In the NATO country, wreckage of the Shaheds was discovered for the third time.

Adviser to the head of the OPU Mikhail Podolyak toldChannel 24that two solutions are possible, to protect Romania from Russian drones.

“This is not a question of Romania – this is a question of the collective body of NATO. It must hold consultations in accordance with the fourth article and then decide. In my opinion, there are two solutions,” Podolyak noted.

What decisions are we talking about

The first decisionis to provide Ukraine with much more air defense systems or additional shells for them. This way our country will be able to completely close the sky, which will protect all countries behind us.

Second solution– this is to increase the number of air defense systems on the border of Romania itself, so that it can independently shoot down Russian drones.

Podolyak added that he likes the first decision better, but only the North Atlantic Alliance can accept it.

Russian drones in Romania: the main thing

  • For the first time, the Shaheds flew into Romanian territory on the night of September 4. However, the country recognized this only on September 6. Defense Minister Angel Tilvar said that vigilance needs to be increased.
  • The next wreckage of Russian drones was discovered on September 9. This time Romania reacted immediately. In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urgently summoned the head of the Russian diplomatic mission.
  • New fragments of a Russian drone were discovered on the territory of Romania on September 13. Bucharest has informed NATO and consultations with allies are currently ongoing.
