The Russians were preparing for a demonstrative trial of the defenders of Mariupol on Independence Day, but so far it has not been staged like that. There may be two reasons why the plans of the invaders did not come true.
One of them is quite simple – the Russians simply did not have time to prepare a place for their “performance”. This opinion was expressed on Channel 24 by Piotr Andryushchenko, Advisor to the Mayor of Mariupol.
Why the Russians did not organize a trial
In particular, the places where the Russians would like to keep the Ukrainian heroic defenders are not yet ready – in the Mariupol pre-trial detention center. However, this is only the first reason.
Another reason that we see from the information coming from Donetsk. Not all is well even with falsified evidence. They hoped that the captured soldiers from other units would give “evidence” against the regiment of Denis Prokopenko, – said the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol.
The invaders also hoped for public “repentance” of the defenders of Mariupol. Therefore, they have to endure the trial, because the picture does not add up the way they want it.

Pyotr Andryushchenko also said that the building of the Mariupol Philharmonic, in which the Russians planned to arrange a public trial, has been under close guard for the third day already. There is still work left for at least one day of work, so preparations continue.
“When it will take place and whether it will take place (trial – channel 24) is unknown. We sincerely hope that this trial will not take place. But knowing occupiers, I would not really rely on these expectations,” the mayor's adviser said.
He called on the Ukrainian society to increase information pressure on the aggressor, primarily among the international community. Perhaps this will help the Ukrainian defenders avoid this trial.
