On the air Channel 24, military observer Denis Popovich said that there are two reasons why the Antonovsky Bridge stands up after so many racket hits.
According to him, firstly, HIMARS are not really designed to destroy structures such as bridges. Secondly, this is such a target that is very difficult to destroy with missiles.
“Let's remember the repeated attempts of the Russians to destroy the bridge that goes across the Gulf to the Black Sea coast. How many attacks were there? At least 6 or 7 are still standing, there is no reason that it will collapse,” the expert recalled.
In order to completely disable the bridge, the span must fall. It is very difficult to achieve this with a missile strike – it would be a great temper. This can only be done by direct undermining, sabotage, – Denis Popovich explained.
He added that they have already talked a lot about the role of the Antonovsky bridge, both road and rail. And also about crossings over the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and along the Darevsky bridge. These are 4 lines on which all Russian logistics is suspended on the right bank of the Kherson region, not counting pontoon and ferry crossings
