On January 3, President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The parties discussed how to bring Ukraine's victory closer in 2023.
Zelensky said he had discussed with Sunak further defense cooperation between Ukraine and the UK. It is reported that the parties agreed to intensify efforts to bring Ukraine's victory closer this year.
Zelensky spoke with Sunak for the first time in 2023
According to Zelensky, “concrete solutions” have already been worked out for the victory of our state.
We discussed further defense cooperation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. We agreed to intensify our efforts to bring victory closer this year. There are already specific solutions for this,” the President of Ukraine wrote.
Sunak promised Ukraine new air defense systems
- In December, Zelensky and Sunak had a conversation in which the British prime minister assured that his state would transfer air defense systems and other installations to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
- Sunak said that more anti-aircraft guns and short-range air defense missiles will arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks.
- The leaders of Ukraine and Great Britain discussed a new wave of attacks on the energy infrastructure of our state and agreed on important steps.
Zelensky also spoke with the prime ministers of the Netherlands and Norway
The President of Ukraine said that on January 3 he had a talk with the prime ministers of the Netherlands and Norway.
The priority topic of conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte was the risk of escalation at the front. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is counting on the most concrete steps of partners at the next meeting in the Ramstein format.
During a conversation with the prime minister of Norway, the Ukrainian president also spoke about the risks of escalation at the front. Zelensky also stressed that he had conveyed to Jonas Garu Stera the urgent defense needs of Ukraine.
“I thanked for the support provided to our energy infrastructure and financing of gas volumes for the passage of the winter period,” the head of state said.
