The photos were taken in infrared. Red indicates living vegetation, and black indicates burnt earth after the explosion.
We created a False-Color image of the attack on the Saki air base in Russian-occupied Crimea to show the signs of a fire, a journalist told Bellingcat.

The footage shows that the black color covered almost the entire territory of the air base, as well as neighboring buildings.
What is known about the explosions in Crimea
On August 9, powerful explosions thundered at the Saki airfield near Novofedorovka. Videos immediately appeared on the network of tourists fleeing the beach in panic, because a thick column of smoke rose in the sky. The occupying authorities declared that everything was “under control” and began to come up with various explanations. Finally, they settled on a “violation of fire safety rules.”
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have not officially stated that they attacked an enemy base. However, on the morning of August 10, the General Staff reported that our defenders had eliminated 9 enemy aircraft per day. After some time, the Air Force confirmed that they were talking about Saki.
Analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War believe that the Russians do not blame the UAF for the attack, because they have their own reasons for this. In particular, it is not beneficial for the enemy to admit that the Russian air defense system is not perfect.
At the same time, Ukraine's international partners are convinced that our military has every right to attack enemy military facilities on the peninsula. After all, Crimea is Ukraine.
