The Global Peace Summit was held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 15–16. Switzerland intends to discuss the results of the conference with Russia, China and other countries.

This was stated by Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis at a press conference on results of the Peace Summit.

Discussion of the results of the summit

In two days Peace Summit, world leaders assured Ukraine of continued support and discussed their own vision of a just world.

Although the minister refused to give details, he added that Switzerland will also discuss the results of the summit with other countries. Cassis explained that we are talking about discussions with states “on whose doors we knocked, but they did not come, for example, with China.”

The Minister recalled that at the first stage, they offered mutual support, but then refused when they saw that Russia would not be involved yet.

Now we will have a deep discussion and discuss how this path or where this path can lead us. There are different opinions and ideas regarding how we can continue this path, the path to peace. And these different ideas need to be combined, explained the head of the Swiss Foreign Ministry.

What are the results of the Peace Summit in Switzerland

  • Following the results of the Peace Summit, 78 countries signed a joint communiqué. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the resolution will be open for other countries to join after the summit. That is, countries will be able to join it later.
  • Countries supported the three main points of the Ukrainian peace formula, which were discussed at the Global Peace Summit. We are talking about nuclear security, food security, the exchange of prisoners in the “all for all” format, as well as the return to Ukraine of illegally abducted children from occupied territories.
  • At a press conference Zelensky said that Ukraine could begin negotiations with Russia “even tomorrow,” provided that Moscow respects its territorial integrity. He added that subsequently the developments that were made within the framework of the summit will be transferred to representatives of Russia.
