Even at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian invaders used the Moskva cruiser for their predatory purposes. However, he did not swim for long – thanks to the defenders of Ukraine, in April he went to study the seabed of the Black Sea.
The commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Aleksey Neizhpapa spoke about why this happened in a comment to Dmitry Komarov, writes Channel 24.
How Ukrainians sank “Moskva”
He stressed that the cruiser “Moskva” was created to fight US aircraft carriers. It was his mission to fight in the ocean. So he had nothing to do in the Black Sea.
The invaders were convinced that the distance at which the cruiser was located from the coast was unattainable for the military of Ukraine. However, as it turned out, this is not true. As Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny emphasized, the Ukrainians dragged this rusty trough directly into the affected area and sank it.
Our forces and means discovered a group of ships, in particular the cruiser Moskva. Well, the Neptune missile system hit with two missiles. For such a ship, two missiles is very little for it to be flooded. But he is at the bottom now,โ said Neizhpapa.
The cruiser was sunk by the self-confidence of the occupiers
The self-confidence of the invaders also helped to send the “Moskva” to the bottom. After all, they were convinced that neither the Navy nor the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine already existed.
This is self-confidence. It was said that the naval forces and air forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine no longer exist. And if we do not exist, then who should be afraid of? We lost the flagship cruiser Moskva in the war with a fleet that does not exist,โ Neizhpapa stressed.
Thanks to the destruction of the enemy flagship, Ukraine was able not only to de-occupy Serpent Island, but also ensured the possibility of the existence of a grain agreement.
< strong>What is the famous cruiser Moskva for? This is the same cruiser that, on the first day of a full-scale invasion, offered the Ukrainian military on the Serpent Island to lay down their arms and surrender. However, the defenders, realizing the full scale of the possible consequences, sent him in a certain direction. He walked to him for a couple of months and in April he finally reached his destination.
