The IAEA wants to organize its presence at the Russian-occupied Zaporozhye NPP. In the future, 2 IAEA specialists will be permanently at the facility.
However, this does not guarantee the end of Russian provocations at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This opinion Channel 24 was expressed by political scientist Andrey Vigirinsky.
How the permanent presence of the IAEA will affect the situation at the ZNPP
According to him, the IAEA representatives at the Zaporozhye NPP cannot significantly influence the current situation.
This very unpleasant, but their capabilities are reduced to almost 0. These people (representatives of the IAEA – Channel 24) carry out only observation and have nothing to do with the management of the station, – the political scientist noted.
As Vigirinsky explained, the IAEA specialists can only record the facts of how the facility is managed and cover this information in a subsequent report.
What is the role of the IAEA permanent representatives
However, they cannot directly intervene to the operation of the station. In addition, their job functions are limited primarily to nuclear energy issues.
Their duties are measurements, surveillance, security checks in those categories that relate to their professional field,” the political scientist added.
Therefore, according to Vigirinsky, the presence of IAEA inspectors on the military situation around the ZNPP is not particularly will have an impact.
