German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that a war of attrition is going on in Ukraine. According to him, the world without the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin would be a better place.
Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on February 7. He presented the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Alexei Reznikov with the “first” Leopard 2.
Ukraine must win
Pistorius noted that the war in Ukraine entailed a huge number of victims.
Ukraine deserves to be admired, as well as to our full and unwavering support, the German Defense Minister emphasized.
He added that the victory of Ukraine with the return of the temporarily occupied Crimea and Donbass is a difficult issue.
“Ukraine is fighting incredibly bravely. There are wonderful soldiers. The most important thing is that we continue to support Ukraine to the best of our ability,” Pistorius said.
At the same time, he is confident that our state must win.< /p>
The world would be better without Putin
According to the minister, the central question is how to reach the point where peace talks become possible. To do this, it is important that both sides are ready to sit down at the negotiating table. It is difficult to predict when this will happen.
Pistorius noted that he was not too afraid of threats on Russian television with nuclear strikes against German facilities.
“One thing is what happens inside, and the other is what happens in propaganda,” said the head of the German Defense Department.
He added that in the end, no one knows what Putin will do, but this should not stop the allies from supporting Ukraine.
Without hesitation and without compromise, the world without Putin would be better,” Pistorius summed up.
Pistorius met with Zelensky
During an evening address to Ukrainians on February 7, Zelensky said that he had met with the German defense minister Boris Pistorius, who arrived in Kyiv.
The topic of the conversation is obvious. We are doing everything to keep our skies clear, to ensure that our soldiers have powerful tanks and that our artillery is not inferior to the occupier,” the President noted.
The Head of State thanked Germany and all partners for supporting Ukraine.
