The US and the UK reacted to the attack on Kremenchug/Collage of Channel 24
The United States and Great Britain reacted to the Russian strike on the shopping center of Kremenchug. They stressed that the aggressor state would certainly be held accountable.
US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said she had seen terrible reports and footage from Kremenchug. She stressed that the world will hold the Kremlin to account for its atrocities in Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will also assure that Russia will be held accountable for what it has done in Ukraine.
Johnson reaction
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the strike showed “the depth of cruelty and barbarism” into which Putin has descended, CNN reports.
The British leader stressed that Putin must realize that his behavior will only strengthen the resolve of Ukraine and any another G7 country to stay close to Kyiv for as long as necessary.
What is known about the strike on Kremenchug
- On June 27, the Russians fired 2 rockets at Kremenchug. According to NSDC Secretary Aleksey Danilov, one of them flew to the city stadium, the other ended up in the Amstor shopping center. Since the attack took place in broad daylight, up to a thousand people were in the mall.
- X-22 missiles were launched from Tu-22 M3 long-range bombers. Russian planes took off from the Shaykovka airfield, and the launches were carried out from the Kursk region.
- President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that the number of victims is unimaginable. As of 21:00, it is known that 11 people died, 40 were injured. Among them, 25 people were hospitalized, six are in serious condition.
- A large-scale fire broke out in the mall, and more than 100 rescuers were involved in extinguishing it . The fire covered 10,000 square meters. Now emergency officials are sorting out the rubble – the shopping center is completely destroyed.
- The shopping center had no strategic value and had nothing to do with military facilities. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, stressed that this shelling is an act of terrorism. The Ukrainian authorities called on world leaders to respond and recognize Russia as a terrorist state.
