For the first time in its history, the Russian-occupied Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant has been completely disconnected from the grid. All because of the fires at the ash dumps of the Zaporizhzhya TPP, located next to the ZNPP.

Zelensky about the first shutdown of the ZNPP

The President of Ukraine also commented on this event in his traditional address to Ukrainians. Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that the world should understand how strong this threat is.

Today, for the first time in history, the ZNPP stopped. The emergency protection of the power units went off after Russian shelling damaged the last working line of the power output of the plant to the energy system of Ukraine, he said.

Zelensky added that the diesel generators immediately worked to give energy to the station itself, to support it after the shutdown.

The President of Ukraine addressed the world with the need to understand what a threat this is. After all, if the diesel generators had not turned on, and after the blackout, the station's automation and personnel had not worked, then by now everyone would have been forced to overcome the consequences of a radiation accident. By such an act, Russia has put Ukraine and all Europeans on the verge of a radiation catastrophe.

International pressure is required

Zelensky stressed that in order to prevent an emergency scenario, such international pressure is needed that will force Russian infidels to leave immediately from the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP. The IAEA and other international organizations must act much faster than they do now.

In conclusion, he stressed that every minute of the presence of the Russian military at a nuclear power plant is the risk of a global radiation catastrophe.
