The White House urgently appealed to the US Congress regarding assistance to Ukraine

The administration of US President Joe Biden sent an urgent warning to Congress on December 4 about the need to approve tens of billions of dollars in military and economic aid to Ukraine, AP reports.

In the letter, Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young warned that without this help, Ukraine's military efforts to defend against a Russian invasion could grind to a halt.

According to her, by the end of the year the United States will run out of funds to provide weapons and assistance, adding that the money it used to support the Ukrainian economy has already run out, and “if it falls, they will not be able to continue fighting, period.”

“We're out of money and almost out of time,” Yang noted.

Congress has already allocated $111 billion in aid to Ukraine, including $67 billion for military procurement, $27 billion for economic and civilian assistance and $10 billion for humanitarian assistance. However, as Young writes, all of these funds, with the exception of about 3% of military funding, were exhausted by mid-November.

– This is not a problem for next year. The time to help democratic Ukraine fight against Russian aggression is now. It's time for Congress to act, she said.

Back in October, US President Joe Biden submitted a $106 billion request to Congress. It provided for the allocation of $61.3 billion for Ukraine within a year and about $14 billion for Israel.

But on November 2, the House of Representatives passed a bill providing $14.3 billion in aid to Israel. It does not contain funds for Ukraine.
