The White House cannot guarantee future supplies to Ukraine: there is weeks of aid left

by alex

The United States still has the ability to provide military assistance to Ukraine, but this option is limited to a few weeks. At the same time, the United States has no guarantees regarding future supplies.

This was stated by White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby.

— We know that there (in the US Congress, — Ed.) there is quite strong bipartisan support (in Ukraine, — Red.). There's just a small number of Republicans who want to hold everyone hostage over a pretty extreme border policy that the president has said we're willing to negotiate in good faith. He believes that migration policy must be changed, as well as the redistribution of resources, and he is ready to lead this discussion, — Kirby added.

He was asked whether the United States has guarantees for continued supplies to Ukraine. Kirby replied that the White House could not give guarantees, since the decision on assistance was made by the US Congress.

The coordinator of the US National Security Council also commented on the visit of Ukrainian officials to Washington, who took part in US government events.

— Ukrainian leaders were here in town yesterday for the Pentagon's defense industry conference to make sure we have a mechanism for a healthy defense industrial base and long-term security support, — he said.

John Kirby added that the White House is deeply concerned that the United States only has a few weeks' worth of security assistance to Ukraine.

Kirby previously said that the United States would like to provide more weapons to Ukraine, but the supply process is complicated by the US Congress, which has not yet passed a package with additional funding.
