At the same time, the water in the river is dark, and in some places there is a mass fish kill.
Lomako noted that the fish will be collected and taken to a pre-determined location for disposal. City services, environmentalists and the State Emergency Service are working.
The acting mayor of Chernigov noted that the city does not consume water from rivers, but uses water from wells. Therefore, there is no threat to the life and health of local residents.
He also reminded that visiting the beach is prohibited. In particular, control over the sale of all types of fish in the city has been tightened.
River pollution: what is the situation in Chernihiv region
We will add that according to the Ministry of Natural Resources, as of September 8, in Chernihiv region, isolated cases of fish kill have been observed in the Desna River in the villages of Makoshino, Ushnya, Boromiki and Saltykova Devitsa.
In total, during the entire period of liquidation of the emergency, about 26 tons of dead fish have been collected in the Seim and Desna rivers.
At the same time, the situation along the Seim River has stabilized. According to the results of measurements in water samples taken in the r. Seim on September 5 and 6, the water condition is improving.
It is noted that as of September 8, the rate of pollution movement has slowed within the city of Chernigov at the site of the destroyed automobile bridge.
The bulk of the polluted water has reached the village of Boromiki in the Chernigov district of the Chernigov region. Further downstream, the condition of the surface waters of the Desna River is satisfactory.
Recall that on August 28, information appeared that a mass fish kill was discovered in the Seim River in the Sumy region. The reason was the entry of a large amount of organic matter into the reservoir, which reduced the oxygen level in the water.
As it turned out, Russian invaders have been dumping waste of unknown substances into the Seim River on the territory of the Russian Federation since August 14, causing pollution of the reservoir. In Ukraine, the Seim flows into the Desna.
