Joe Biden commented on the agreement between the bipartisan Senate, that is, Republicans and Democrats, on national security. The US President said that going back decades, the immigration system was broken and it was time to fix it. That's why Biden said he has directed members of his administration to work with a bipartisan group of senators to finally take the issue seriously.
Now we've reached agreement on a bipartisan national security agreement that includes the toughest and fairest set of border reforms in a decade. “I strongly support this,” the American leader said.
He also explained that although this agreement does not address everything that the US President would like, these reforms are important to make the U.S. border more orderly, secure, fair and humane.
Joe Biden also said the agreement addresses two other important priorities. In particular, it allows the United States:
- continue our vital work with partners around the world to defend Ukraine's freedom and support its ability to defend itself against Russian aggression;
- provides Israel with everything it needs to protect its people and defend from Hamas terrorists. And it will provide vital humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
As I said earlier, if we We will not stop Putin’s appetite for power and control in Ukraine, it will not be limited only to Ukraine, and the costs for the United States will increase,” Biden said.
The American leader added that now the Republicans The House of Representatives must decide. After all, despite the differences, we cannot allow party politics to get in the way of fulfilling our responsibilities as a great nation.
“I call on Congress to come together and quickly pass this bipartisan agreement. Get it on my desk so I can sign it into law immediately,” Joe Biden concluded.
