The United States does not support current calls for a ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
This was stated by John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, as quoted by The Times of Israel.
“We do not believe that a ceasefire is the right answer now.” We do not support a ceasefire at this time,” Kirby said.
Instead, he said, the possibility of “pauses” to deliver aid to Gaza should be considered.

Kirby expressed confidence that the number of aid trucks entering Gaza through the Rafah crossing with Egypt would be increased.
“In the first phase, which we talked about with the Israelis, we are trying to increase the number of trucks to 100 per day… We are confident that we can achieve this in the coming days,” Kirby said, adding that about 45 trucks passed through the checkpoint the day before.
Earlier, Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that Israel had sent additional ground troops to the Gaza Strip.
