The United States stated that they are not involved in planning the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region of Russia. They recalled that it is Russia that is waging a war against Ukraine.

Deputy State Department Spokesman Vedant Patel said at a briefing that the United States is not involved in any part of the Ukrainian operation. Before this, the US said that Kyiv had not informed them about the operation in the Kursk region, writes 24 Channel.

What the US says about the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region

We are not involved in any component, planning or preparation of this operation (in the Kursk region – 24 Channel). I will leave it to the Ukrainian military to talk about it, – said the representative of the State Department.

He noted that it is Russia that is waging a war against Ukraine, and the Ukrainian military is defending itself from the Russian occupiers.

Vedant Patel also commented on Washington's role in Russia's war against Ukraine.

But our role and what we are focused on is supporting Ukraine's ability to defend itself, which we think is common sense, especially when it comes to defending itself from attacks and operations that may occur in the immediate vicinity of the border, – said the representative of the State Department.

It is worth noting that the United States has repeatedly said that it is Kyiv that is taking decision.

The United States also assured that it continues to maintain contact with the Ukrainian side against the backdrop of recent events in the Kursk region of Russia.
