“These missiles on launch rails posed an immediate threat to merchant and US Navy ships in the region and could be fired at any time, prompting the US military to exercise its inalienable right and responsibility to defend itself,” Central said command .
The US military noted that the strikes, along with other actions, would increase the Houthis' ability to continue reckless attacks on international and commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
The publication writes that Houthi attacks on ships in the region since November have slowed trade between Asia and Europe and worried the international community.
Recall that it was previously reported that in the Red Sea, the Houthis mistakenly attacked a tanker with Russian oil.
