On January 19, it became known that the US House of Representatives supported the interim budget. Before this, the bill to prevent a shutdown was also supported by the Senate.

As MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted, it is important to pay attention to the voting rate. We are talking about 314 votes “For” and 108 “Against”. According to him, a significant part of the Republicans supported the interim budget.

The draft interim budget was sent to Biden

It is known that the corresponding draft has already been sent to American President Joe Biden for signature.

Therefore… there is a high probability that now the border issue will indeed have some kind of compromise solution and the issues of financing Ukraine will be unblocked,” Zheleznyak suggested.

Please note that earlier the corresponding bill was supported by both chambers of the American Congress. 77 senators were in favor, and 18 were against.

Note that the interim budget provides for different time frames for funding federal programs. Until March 1, agriculture, programs for veterans, transportation, housing and others. And until March 8, funds will be provided for the rest, in particular, the Pentagon budget.

Next is Biden's request

The next goal of the Senate after the adoption of the interim budget will be the adoption of a national security package, noted Democratic leader in the US Senate Chuck Schumer. It assumes the allocation of 61 billion dollars for Ukraine.

As soon as While Congress will avoid a shutdown, my goal is for the Senate to move quickly to consider a supplemental national security document. Our national security, our friends abroad and the future of democracy demand nothing less, Schumer said.

Just months ago, Joe Biden asked Congress. He asked to allocate more than 100 billion dollars for national security needs. Of this amount, 61 billion is provided for financial assistance for our state.

However, the corresponding package has not yet been supported in Congress. Republicans opposed it. They want the White House to include tougher measures in its proposal regarding the protection of US borders from migrants.

On January 17, Joe Biden held a meeting with congressmen. Journalists asked the American leader about the support of our state based on the results of the meeting. The US President said he believes that “the majority of members of Congress support assistance to Ukraine.”
