The US Department of Defense noted that although the Russian invaders have made some progress in the Donbas, it does not seem that they have cordoned off the city of Lysichansk.
Ukrainians are resisting in Lisichansk and its environs. Not far from Lisichansk is the city of Severodonetsk, which was occupied by Russian troops.
An official from the US Department of Defense assessed the fighting in the Donbass and noted the professionalism of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He noted that everyone will learn how Ukrainian soldiers held the city in the future.
From a military standpoint, I would say that the small number of Ukrainians who kept the Russians in Severodonetsk for as long as they did is really something that I think we will all look into in the future. And when [Ukrainian forces] decided to leave Severodonetsk, they decided to do [it] of their own free will to move to more prepared places to continue this defense,” the official said.
Armed Forces of Ukraine make Russians pay heavily for every piece of land
Active hostilities in the Donbass have been going on for several months. During this time, the Russians captured a small territory. At the same time, they lost a lot of strength in the process.
Ukrainians are forced to pay for a very small plot of land … Several hundred Ukrainians continue to hold back the Russian army in this part of the world in a fairly serious battle. This speaks to the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers and their leadership,” he said.
Ukrainians are reclaiming their lands, despite the enemy’s superior strength
The official stressed that if you follow only dry statistics, then the Russians, of course, prevail in armament and in the number of manpower. But the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can advance in certain directions, in particular, in Kherson, speaks of their skill and determination.
In the past few days, we have become aware of the killings of local Russian officials. And we also know that reports indicate that the Ukrainians managed to liberate several small towns northwest and west of Kherson,” the official said.
It is also known that in the last month the infidels have drawn their reserves into battle. The official noted that “the fact that the Russians are talking about reserves speaks of the influence of Ukrainians on the Russian army.”
In addition, the department sees clear problems with morale among the Russian military. Also, the US Department of Defense is aware of cases of release from service of several Russian generals who participated in the war in Ukraine.
Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repulsed several assaults in the Donbas
- The Armed Forces of Ukraine repulsed an offensive attempt in the Slavic direction in the direction of Dovgenkoe – Dolina, having thrown the enemy back.
- In the Lisichansk direction, the infidels do not give up their attempts to take control of the Bakhmut-Lysichansk highway. The enemies were advancing, but the Ukrainian soldiers successfully suppressed these attempts and forced the enemy to retreat.
- In the Avdiivka direction, the Russians had to retreat with frantic losses. They unsuccessfully tried to storm in the direction of Yegorovka – Pavlovka.
