The UOC-MP lost the appeal against the demolition of the MAF temple near Desyatinnaya

< p>The Court of Appeal ordered the dismantling of the temple in the form of the MAF on the territory of the Museum of the History of Ukraine in Kiev.

The Northern Economic Court of Appeal considered the appeal of the religious community of the UOC MP Tithe Temple against the decision of the Economic Court of the city of Kiev dated February 15, 2023 in case No. 910/9385/20 and confirmed the obligation to free the site from the illegally built temple-mafa on the territory of the National Museum of History of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Culture reminds: the temple-kiosk was built without any permits and is located in the buffer zone of UNESCO monuments, where new construction is prohibited, and also violates the ensemble of the historical archaeological complex of the Tithe Church.

The placement of this structure on the museum's land is contrary to its intended use.

In addition, the Ministry noted, the establishment located in the building disseminates anti-Ukrainian narratives and has been working for the aggressor country for 14 years in a row.

The history of the appearance of the illegal MAF temple near Desyatynnaya

The so-called “Church of the Tithe Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary” located on the territory of the National Museum of History of Ukraine illegally, is an unauthorized construction and was built by the Religious Community of the UOC MP.

The unauthorized seizure of land began in 2008. At first the structure looked like three interlocking kiosks. In 2012, during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, the “legitimization” illegal construction. At the same time, the said religious organization never received any construction permits or permission to use the land.

On January 25, 2018, members of radical organizations dismantled the information board of the chapel of the Moscow Patriarchate. At the same time, the protesters set fire to garbage near the doors of the facility, which was immediately extinguished.

On January 28 of the same year, the court took two architects into custody for 2 months, who were accused of attempting to set fire to the chapel of the UOC-MP. However, on February 5, 2018, the Kiev Court of Appeal released the architects on bail.

In 2020, the National Museum of the History of Ukraine filed a lawsuit to remove obstacles to the use of the land plot by demolishing the unauthorized object.

In January 2023, the Ministry of Culture strongly supported the dismantling of the MAF temple near the Tithe Church.
