The United States will provide Ukraine with $522 million to strengthen the energy system

Government The United States of America will provide Ukraine with $522 million for the restoration of the energy system damaged by Russian shelling, as well as for the development of energy generation.

As reported on the website of the US Embassy in Ukraine, the corresponding memorandum was signed by the governments of both countries.

This memorandum will help improve the energy security of Ukraine and transform the energy sector into a modern and diversified one.

The agreement provides for the following areas:

• Restoration of damaged electricity, heat and gas infrastructure of Ukraine; installation of main autotransformers;
• Increasing the resilience of the energy system to interruptions in electricity supplies;
• Installation of distributed gas generation (in particular, CCGT turbines made in the USA);
• Implementation distributed generation from renewable and other energy sources in the electric power and heat power industries;
• Strengthening the physical connection of Ukraine with European gas and electricity networks;
