The United States plans to increase the monthly production of 155-mm artillery shells to 100 thousand in 2025.
This was stated by the Pentagon's chief arms buyer Bill LaPlante, reports Reuters.< /p>
— We are going to reach the level of 100 thousand per month in 2025. Just 6-8 months ago we produced 14 thousand shells per month, today – 28 thousand, — he noted.
Demand for 155mm artillery shells has increased sharply since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. However, the allies' stocks intended for their own defense ran out as they quickly supplied shells to Kiev, which fires thousands of shells a day.
