Victoria Nuland stated that the United States takes Vladimir Putin's threats of nuclear war seriously. At the same time, if Moscow does this, it will not recover from the consequences.
The US Deputy Secretary of State for Security Affairs Victoria Nuland made the corresponding statement in an interview with Russian media, Channel 24 reports. She stressed that threatening Russia with a nuclear war is extremely irresponsible behavior for a country that is a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
God forbid that Putin or his generals are really ready to make such a decision. Unfortunately, since the beginning of this conflict, we have already understood that Putin's threats should be taken seriously. Nuland said.
She assured that the United States and our allies are preparing for such a development. At the same time, if Russia goes so far as to use nuclear weapons, it will be a war crime of such magnitude, from the consequences of which neither Putin himself nor Russia as a whole will recover.
