The United States government bought 60 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns from Jordan for delivery to Ukraine, paying €110 million.

The publication De Telegraaf writes about this, citing its own sources.

According to them, Jordan previously purchased these weapons from the Netherlands.

In particular, in 2016, the government of Prime Minister Mark Rutte sold German self-propelled guns for €21 million. The publication calls the amount “ridiculous.” Even then, this deal was criticized as weakening the Dutch Armed Forces.

Ukraine uses Gepard mainly for defense against drones, which saves ammunition for Patriot and Iris-T air defense systems.

Back in early June, the Pentagon signed a contract with the American company Global Military Products Inc., which is located in the state of Florida, in the amount of $118.3 million for the purchase and supply of Gepard self-propelled artillery systems for Ukraine.

The order will be performed in Amman, Jordan, with an estimated completion date of May 30, 2024.
