The United States proposed to impose sanctions against Russia for collusion with the Taliban

by alex

Senators from the US Democratic Party have proposed imposing sanctions against Russia for conspiring with the Taliban terrorist group (banned in Russia). This is reported by Reuters with reference to the relevant bill.

According to the document, US President Donald Trump will be required to officially disclose whether the Russian authorities were involved in the attacks on the US military. If adopted, Trump will have to impose sanctions on any Russian citizen, government official or company that is involved in the alleged collusion.

The New York Times reported on June 26, citing intelligence agencies, that Russian military intelligence had secretly offered to pay for the murder of American servicemen in Afghanistan. Thus, Moscow allegedly wanted to disrupt the US peace talks with the Taliban, the publication said.

In Russia, the accusations were called unfounded. Various American structures also found it difficult to confirm the reliability of the information: not all of the American intelligence community considers the evidence to be sufficiently convincing.
