By next summer, the United States intends to establish production of 100 thousand 155-mm artillery shells per month.
This was stated by Deputy Chief of Staff of the US Army, General James Mingus, reports Defense One.
Such volumes, he said, are more than three times what U.S. factories will produce this month and would represent a six-fold increase since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

In the future, US defense capabilities will be capable of producing 1.2 million artillery shells per year.
Ammunition production in Europe
As part of preventing a shell famine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, European military concerns are constantly increasing their own artillery ammunition production capacity.
President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel spoke about this in March 2024.
He noted that while Europe is only in the process of increasing its combat resources, Kyiv’s partners will supply it with shells, purchasing them wherever possible.
