Ukraine will not join NATO in the foreseeable future, writes The New York Times. One of the reasons for this is the uncertainty of the European participating countries in the benefits of its accession.

Observers believe that despite the numerous statements by the US administration about the possible inclusion of Ukraine in the alliance, US President Joe Biden was extremely cautious in such statements.

The head of the White House in recent years has become skeptical about the expansion of military obligations of the United States, the newspaper writes. After the collapse of the USSR, he managed to convince NATO to accept Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. However, during the two decades of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, Biden lost his desire to expand NATO, the authors note.

In addition, the United States and other members of the alliance do not like the fact that the Ukrainian authorities are not coping with corruption.
