The UN “couldn’t” say who is shelling the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

The UN

The United Nations could not say for sure who was shelling the Zaporozhye NPP. That is, they openly suggested that this crime could be committed by Ukraine.

This conclusion follows from the statement of Stephane Dujarric, the representative of the UN Secretary General. This is reported by Channel 24 with reference to its briefing for August 29.

What Dujarric said about the shelling of the ZNPP

The representative of the Secretary General, first of all, called on behalf of the UN to stop the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Then he was asked who was doing it.

We have no estimate of who is shelling the ZNPP, Dujarric said.

He said this commenting, in in particular, the dispatch of the IAEA mission to the territory of the nuclear power plant. Representatives of the organization went there on August 29 to establish what kind of threats there are. According to The Wall Street Journal, the mission will last only 4 days. This is allegedly stated in an internal document of the Ukrainian government.

Why the IAEA needs to visit the station

According to experts, this will not help in dismissing the station. After all, Russia has already openly refused to demilitarize the ZNPP territory and keeps several dozen units of military equipment there. However, the IAEA mission will still have positive consequences for Ukraine.

For us, the IAEA mission is needed in order to continue the legal struggle, their mission will not help us free ZNPP, but it can help us defend against unfounded accusations,” said political strategist Mikhail Sheitelman.
