For the first time in the history of Ukraine, during the 7th Ukrainian Women's Congress, which will take place on November 22-23 in Kiev, an award for women's leadership will be presented, said Svetlana Voitsekhovskaya, co-founder of the UWK.
The official name of the award is the Mary O'Hagan Award for Excellence in Gender Equality and Women's Leadership.
Wojciechowska explained that O'Hagan headed the Ukrainian office of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for 5 years after the Revolution of Dignity. Before that, she worked on the development of democracies in different countries of the world, and was a dedicated advocate for attracting women to the political, economic, and social spheres in Ukraine.

According to her, she has become a reliable partner and symbol of support for women, their initiatives, and active role in making socially important decisions.
“The Mary O'Hagen award is symbolic and embodies the ideas of gender equality and women's leadership in all spheres of public life,” Voitsekhovskaya emphasized.
The first laureate of the award was jointly determined by the co-founders of UZhK – Elena Kondratyuk, Maria Ionova and Svetlana Voitsekhovskaya – and members of the PO UZhK team.
The award ceremony will take place on the first day of the congress, November 22. The broadcast of this event will be available on the UWK website www.womenua.today and on its pages on social networks.
During the 7th Ukrainian Women's Congress on November 22-23, participants will debate in six thematic platforms. Among the speakers: First Lady Elena Zelenskaya, members of the government – Yulia Sviridenko, Olga Stefanishina, Oksana Zholnovich, Yulia Laputina, Irina Mudraya, Anna Gvozdyar and others, people's deputies, representatives of local governments.
The participation of women entrepreneurs, leaders of the educational, medical, human rights sectors, high representatives and representatives of the international community is planned.
