On the night of February 6, the Defense Forces successfully struck the Primorsko-Akhtarsk military airfield. It is located in the Krasnodar Territory, and it is from here that the occupiers launch “Shaheds” into Ukrainian territory almost every night.

The Primorsko-Akhtarsk military airfield is located on the north-eastern outskirts of the city of the same name, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, in the Krasnodar Territory. According to open data on the Internet, the 960th assault aviation regiment, which is part of the 1st mixed aviation division of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army, is stationed at the airport. The regiment is armed with Su-25 attack aircraft.

Interestingly, until May 1998 the regiment was a fighter regiment and was armed with MiG-29 aircraft.

During a full-scale invasion, the Primorsko-Akhtarsk military airfield is used by the Russian army to launch Shahed-type attack UAVs. These kamikaze drones strike civilian infrastructure, as well as critical infrastructure facilities.

Thus, the airfield in the Krasnodar Territory is located at a distance of about 300 kilometers from the front line. The airfield is also separated from Ukraine by the Sea of ​​Azov.

By the way, the Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield has been attacked before. Thus, in July 2023, local Telegram channels reported powerful explosions in the area of ​​the airfield. The media claimed that local air defense systems allegedly shot down a missile that was trying to attack a fuel and lubricants warehouse on the territory of a military airfield. The network also stated that a huge crater had formed near the airfield.

The network also reported that at least one Russian serviceman was killed during the attack.
